Waking up was never something I enjoyed. Usually, it means the party is over and the drugs have worn off. But this morning I’m surprisingly optimistic when I first open my eyes. I actually felt worse than I usually do, my body ached all over. I figure its a side effect of the OD last night. Still, my heart flutters when I wake up next to Rex.

I’ve never felt like this before. This excitement and happiness just from being close to someone. I don’t want to say its love, not out loud or to myself. That too good for me. I don’t get happy endings or loving men. I get people like Chisel. That was what my life was destined for.

Still, I couldn’t help but enjoy the light skips of my heart while I watch Rex sleep.

After a few moments, my lips and throat start to feel really dry and I decide I’ll venture out for some water before coming back to grab my stuff. I know Rex said I had to leave in the morning, but I’m sure he won’t mind one glass of water.

When I stand up, the floor suddenly lurches beneath me, and the room spins. I fall, knees hitting the floor loudly and I wince as I brace myself on the bed.

I watch Rex sit up groggily as I try to apologize for waking him, but the world is spinning to fast for me to try and talk to him. Soon everything goes black.
